About Wrightwood Raptor Center

A community-rooted nonprofit with one goal: ensuring every bird of prey has a fighting chance.

Born from a Love of Birds and a Need in the Community

Wrightwood Raptor Center is a California nonprofit corporation based in Wrightwood, in the heart of the San Gabriel Mountains. We were founded by Charles Cannaday — a licensed falconer and passionate wildlife advocate — after recognizing a critical gap in wildlife response services in the High Desert and Inland Empire regions.

When raptors are found injured or displaced, they often don't survive long enough to reach care — not because no one wants to help, but because the gap between finder and facility is too large. We exist to close that gap.

Today, we coordinate wildlife transportation, provide interim triage care, and are actively constructing dedicated raptor rehabilitation chambers with the goal of becoming a fully licensed wildlife rehabilitation center.
